Publication date: 17 August 2026
Country: Morocco
Domain: Medical Devices / Regulation

Morocco is strengthening its regulatory framework applicable to used or refurbished medical devices. A new ministerial order establishes the registration conditions for certain categories of these devices intended to be placed on the Moroccan market.

Devices concerned

The order establishes the registration conditions for certain categories of used or refurbished medical devices, including:

  • Medical imaging devices
  • External radiotherapy devices
  • Brachytherapy devices

Registration remains subject to compliance with the regulatory requirements set out in the order.

Strengthened technical requirements

The devices concerned must, in particular:

  • maintain their essential performance;
  • meet applicable safety requirements;
  • comply with the manufacturer’s specifications;
  • have not been modified in their intended use.

Clearly defined service-life requirements

The order introduces specific criteria concerning the service life of the devices.

To be eligible for registration, a device must have a sufficient remaining service life, in accordance with the specifications established by its manufacturer.

This provision helps prevent equipment that has reached the end of its service life from being placed on the market.

Key takeaway

The new order aims to strengthen the regulatory framework for used or refurbished medical devices eligible for registration in Morocco, with particular emphasis on quality, safety and performance, as well as on maintaining a remaining service life consistent with the manufacturer’s specifications.
