ZAMBIA: ZAMRA MAKES AVAILABLE 22 REGULATORY GUIDELINES COVERING HUMAN MEDICINES, PHARMACEUTICAL PRODUCTS AND CLINICAL TRIALS

The Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority (ZAMRA) has made available a collection of 22 regulatory guidelines addressing key aspects of the regulation of human medicines, pharmaceutical products and clinical trials.

These guidelines aim to clarify regulatory requirements and provide guidance to pharmaceutical industry stakeholders on the applicable national regulatory framework.

The guidelines cover several regulatory areas, including:

  • Human Medicines and Pharmaceutical Products: Requirements for marketing authorisation applications, registration procedures, CTD submissions, renewal of marketing authorisations and variations.
  • Pharmacovigilance: Requirements relating to pharmacovigilance systems, Qualified Persons for Pharmacovigilance (QPPVs), pharmacovigilance inspections and the monitoring of medicine safety.
  • Clinical Trials: Regulatory requirements for clinical trial applications, authorisation procedures and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
  • Post-Marketing Surveillance: Requirements for monitoring the safety, quality and efficacy of pharmaceutical products following their authorisation and marketing.

The availability of these guidelines provides manufacturers, marketing authorisation holders, importers, clinical trial sponsors and other pharmaceutical stakeholders with regulatory guidance to support compliance with Zambia’s national requirements.

AREMA supports pharmaceutical companies in Zambia and across the region through Regulatory Affairs support, Local Representative services, Pharmacovigilance activities, and regulatory compliance solutions.
